California law currently requires 3,000 hours of supervised professional experience, including 104 supervised weeks, in order to qualify for LMFT licensure.

And, YES your MFT clinical supervision can be done by video conference in California, but with specific requirements. Recent legislation, such as AB 1758, allows for supervision via two-way, real-time videoconferencing in both exempt and non-exempt settings. However, supervisors must conduct an initial assessment within the first 60 days of supervision to ensure that video conferencing is appropriate and that proper privacy and security measures are in place.
