Online or In-Person

Are you searching for a Christian therapist in Los Angeles, Christian therapist in Fresno, or Christian therapist in San Francisco who truly understands both your faith and your struggles?

With Faith Based Counseling services, you can feel comfortable bring your faith into your online therapy or in-person visit with your Christian Counselor, Tammy Brooks LMFT.

I’m Tammy Brooks, LMFT, your Christian counselor, offering faith-based counseling throughout California, as well as in Connecticut, Michigan, Missouri, and Texas.

With Jesus, we’ve got this — together.

When Faith Alone Feels Like It’s Not Enough

You pray. You go to church. You do all the right things.
But you still find yourself weighed down by worry, overwhelm, doubt, and overthinking. You’re slipping further from the people who love you — your spouse, your children, your friends — even though you know they care.

Maybe your faith feels shaken. Maybe old habits or addictions are resurfacing. Maybe you’re simply tired of pretending everything’s okay, of feeling lost, of wondering if God is still listening.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. You can find peace again and guess what? It starts with a single, faith-filled step.

Restore Hope Through Faith-Based Therapy

You might be noticing:

  • Work or marriage problems growing

  • Irritability, mood swings, or trouble sleeping

  • Disconnection from your faith and your loved ones

  • Feeling angry — at yourself, your spouse, and maybe even God

These are signs that something needs to change and that change is possible.
Through Christian counseling, we’ll explore how your faith and Scripture can be sources of healing, strength, and renewed purpose.

Christian Counseling That Meets You Where You Are

Whether you prefer online Christian therapy in California, Texas, Michigan, Missouri, or Connecticut — or an in-person session in Poway, CA (San Diego area) — I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore your challenges through the lens of faith.

Together, we’ll reconnect your heart with hope, rebuild trust in your relationships, and strengthen your walk with God.

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” — Matthew 19:26 (KJV)

Frequently Asked Questions About Christian Counseling

  • Let’s face it, choosing the right therapist and finding the right faith based therapist is even more important. We are not all the same. When looking for a faith based Christian Counselor, like myself, make sure to find someone who does four things:

    1. Integrates biblical and psychological principles.

    2. Filters all treatment through the lens of Scripture.

    3. Follows the Holy Spirit's guidance.

    4. Prays for you.

Even though I use a Solution Focused Brief Therapy lens, I strongly feel this is style is only strengthen as I am guided by the Holy Spirit who brought me to this profession in the first place. I am more than happy to include biblical passages and even pray in session with you.

  • A Christian counselor integrates a biblical worldview with clinical psychology, while a traditional therapist may or may not have a spiritual perspective depending on the client's needs. The key difference is the intentional integration of faith-based principles like prayer and scripture into the treatment plan by a Christian counselor, while a therapist's approach is based on psychological theory and evidence-based practices, even if they are also a person of faith.

  • Yes, Christian counseling can be covered by insurance if the counselor is a licensed professional and accepts your specific insurance plan. Insurance companies generally cover the services as long as the therapist uses evidence-based mental health practices, even if they incorporate faith. However, coverage depends on your specific plan; therefore, you will want to check with your insurance carrier to determine what and how to file for reimbursement, as many Christian counseling practices, such as mine, are out-of-network and you will need file for reimbursement yourself. We can talk more about this when you call for your free 15-minute consult.
